2012 Junior Olympic Cross-Country Program

Landshark Run Club - Junior Olympic Program - Colorado Springs, CO

Welcome to the 2012 Landshark's Running Club Junior Olympic Developent Cross Country Program - for runners age 8-14 years. Read about the new changes and coaches for this year's program!

To register, please (download the registration form here). Bring this form to our kickoff meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5th at 4:30pm at Cottonwood Park. If you are not able to attend this meeting please contact Lisa at #719-337-2737 or Gina at #719-271-5225.

This program is designed for youth runners and families looking to take their running to the next level. Whether this is a step above the Landshark school program or for those who have discovered a passion for running at a local race or found their love for running from another sport, this program will guide and prepare runners for a safe and guided long term approach to running and racing. Runners 12 and younger race 1.86 miles (3,000m) and the 13-14 year olds race 2.46 miles (4,000m).

The 2012 program will begin, Wednesday October 5th and run through December 5th. All age groups will practice on M/W/F at Cottonwood Park 4:30-6:00pm (or until dark) and Saturday's will be reserved for local races, USAT&F and AAU racing events. In the past there have been multiple locations for practice, however in an effort to consolidate practices to one location for families with more than one runner, to allow for more of a "team" atmosphere and for more hands on coaching we will host all practices from the Cottonwood Park location on M/W/F 4:30-6:00pm. Participants will train with appropriate ability group based on their age, the distance they will be racing, current level of training, and physiological maturity. We do understand that many participants may be involved with other sports such as soccer or Jr. High or High School Cross Country. Coaches for this program with take into consideration the activity level of your child and help design a balanced and safe training program.

Please bring a copy of your birth certificate and a copy of your USATF and/or AAU Number to the kickoff meeting.
